FT BUSNESS OF LUXURY SUMMIT x LWP
The FT Business of Luxury Summit - widely regarded as the premium thought leadership gathering for senior luxury executives, industry leaders, corporate decision makers and financiers from around the world - is coming to San Francisco in 2016.
The technological revolution has changed the luxury market completely and our understanding of what constitutes modern luxury has been totally transformed.
The US west coast has led the way in this revolution, not only in the field of technology but also in a societal shift in attitude. What does luxury mean to the modern consumer? In what ways are our manufacturing methods changing our understanding of craftsmanship, and where are the biggest areas of growth within the industry? Do words like artisanal and authenticity still have the same currency or is social responsibility the buzz word? Does a brand have to work harder to engage with the consumer and where is this engagement paying off?
Where has the growth in automation allowed the the industry to excel, and where has it posed as a threat? How has new media changed our retail models and how are brands adapting? Further, how does the modern creative find the autonomy, space and freedom to grow within a rapidly accelerated and brutal business environment?
With its unique vantage - looking towards Asia, but rooted in the old world, California is the crucible of change. The 2016 Business of Luxury Summit in San Francisco will talk to the artists, economists and executives leading the creative revolution.

SOTHEBY'S SUMMER ART COURSE:
Summer in London can be a dream in the early summer: strolling around in Hyde Park with a summer breeze bringing kids giggles or riding the London Eye for a picturesque view of the city on a cloudless night. London is a cultural hub. The museums and art galleries offer a mélange of styles: new and old, classic and contemporary, local and exotic. Each summer, Sotheby’s brings art students together in this beautiful city. Through one of the 4 week art courses, the students will learn about the history, the essence and the business of art. The courses differ on the time period and era of art. And this summer, Lulu Wang will be attending the course Art & its Markets. This course focuses on marketing art and how to integrate art into marketing strategies. Ms. Wang will be still be involved in Lulu Wang & Partners while she is in London. Ms. Lili, the COO of Lulu Wang & Partners, will be handling business as usual in the Shanghai office.
